San Francisco Children’s Musical Theater (SFCMT) is an unique opportunity for Bay Area kids, teens, and youth ages 5 to 25 from the Portola Valley and surrounding Bay Area to learn all about theater. Our children’s musical theater summer programs allow children of all ages to audition and take part in a live theatrical production in front of an actual audience in a real San Francisco theater. As children practice for the theatrical production, they learn all sorts of life skills.
In fact, at SFCMT, we believe that theater is as important to a child’s education and development as any subject taught in school. Again and again, we have seen children naturally develop their creativity, self-esteem, poise, imagination, and personality as they worked together and make new friends while preparing a theatrical production. Theater teaches self-discipline and cooperation, and as children learn to put together a theatrical production they often learn about the history of theater and performance as well. For Bay Area kids in the Portola Valley and Bay Area, it’s often a great opportunity to learn about theater and themselves.
