Youth Theater Auditions

“The Best of Broadway” San Francisco Youth Movie Musical Auditions May 16th

To prevent a large theater audience gathering in July, we have changed our “Best of Broadway” format from a live theater production to a youth movie musical that will screen in January 2021. This format change allows us to work with smaller groups of cast members and does not require an audience to gather until ten months from now.

Director and producer John Bisceglie and film makers 152 West productions seek local youth ages 5-18 to star in “The Best of Broadway” a new movie musical where Bay Area youth recreate Broadway’s greatest moments on film. Perform songs from both classic and contemporary Broadway musicals, in this all singing, all dancing, dazzling salute to Broadway!

Record in a pro recording studio and work with a film crew, then see yourself on the silver screen when “The Best of Broadway” premieres in selected Bay Area movie theaters.

This exciting program with only one rehearsal per week makes participating fun and easy for busy Bay Area families. Rehearse in either San Francisco, San Jose or Morgan Hill.

No experience required, and all who audition will be accepted.

The participation fee is $295 per child. In addition, cast members are responsible for providing a costume ($30) dance shoes ($30) and selling tickets to the movie that will be screened in January 2021.

San Francisco Auditions: Saturday, May 16th, 11:00-2:00pm SIGN UP

Please prepare to sing 30 seconds of any song (acapella, without accompanying music.) Select a dynamic song that really shows off your personality and pipes. Be sure to decide on a song before the audition. Bring a photo with you. A snapshot or print-out of a photo will help us remember you when it comes to casting.

9 Saturday rehearsals in San Francisco: May 23rd–July 25th, 11:00am-3:00pm.
(Times determined after casting. Most cast members meet for two hours. Cast members are allowed to miss two rehearsals)

Filming: Cast members will be needed to film 3-4 days between July 27- August 9th.
(Scheduling is flexible and all cast members will not be needed for all film dates)

In light of the Coronavirus, we would like to inform our families that that all SFCMT/SBCMT/GCMT auditions and rehearsals are proceeding as planned.

SFCMT/SBCMT/GCMT are taking proactive and preventative measures to protect against the spread of the COVID-19 virus. Beyond recommended sanitation guidelines by the CDC, SFCMT/SBCMT/GCMT have implemented:

Increased disinfection of door handles and push bars throughout the theater.
System of spray and disinfectant application of facility between shows and after business hours.

SFCMT/SBCMT/GCMT has taken similar measures to ensure that its rehearsal studios follow these same standards. For studio classes and production rehearsals, hand sanitizer and disinfectant wipes will be placed at the entrance of all working areas. All participants will be asked to use hand sanitizer upon arrival. A thorough cleaning of all surface areas and door handles will be performed on a daily basis.

SFCMT/SBCMT/GCMT asks that all participants follow standard flu season protocol outlined by the CDC:

Wash hands often and for at least 20 seconds Cover coughs and sneezes with a tissue, throw it away and wash your hands Avoid touching eyes, nose and mouth Avoid contact with sick individuals If you are not feeling well, or you are living with a person who is not feeling well, please remain at home.

We will continue to monitor the situation as it proceeds, and we will follow any mandates that might pertain to SFCMT/SBCMT/GCMT. As we are following best practices, and we expect that all of our families and guests will be respectful of those around them, we are happy to provide entertainment during a time when people might be experiencing stress or concern from current events.

Thank you for helping keep everyone healthy!
